Failure to study history may lead us to repeat it. Each historical flag of the United States has its unique merits and reasons for existence. While contemporary perspectives may not align with some of the historical reasons or symbolism, acknowledging their value is essential as they represent a part of our nation's journey and progress as a people and a nation.

The inaugural official flag, the "Betsy Ross Flag," emerged in 1777 and bore a striking resemblance to the present-day flag. It featured 13 alternating red and white stripes with a blue canton, housing 13 white five-point stars arranged in a circle. Over time, the United States has witnessed several flag designs, each carrying its symbolism and historical significance. Our current flag maintains the stripe format and canton but showcases 50 stars in the blue field, symbolizing the number of states in the Union.
