How long will my flag last? Which is better, nylon or polyester flag?

It really comes down to preference and how much you want to spend on your flag. We have two a couple options for polyester, printed polyester and sewn polyester. Printed polyester is generally a little bit less expensive than nylon and sewn polyester. Printed polyester is more the option if you are looking for an inside flag or for something that will only be used for a short amount of time. Nylon is our most popular option for outdoor flags and really does well in low wind areas. Nylon will also dry out faster if hit with a little moisture and does well against the sun. Sewn polyester is the heaviest and most durable of these options but is also the most expensive. The short answer, printed polyester is more economical, it is made for indoor and outdoor use. Nylon is a lighter material and a great option for outdoor use but will cost more than printed polyester. And sewn polyester is the toughest, requiring more wind to "fly." This in turn, makes nylon flags typically cost more than printed polyester flags, but less than sewn polyester flags. As far as cost, the price from highest to lowest would go, sewn polyester, nylon and then printed polyester. All are great choices; it just depends on what you want them for and what you are looking to spend.

What is the most durable fabric for an American Flag?

Sewn Polyester is one of the heavier fabrics we offer at the United States Flag Store. It is probably one of the more durable flag materials we have. Bearing this in mind, being a heavier flag, it will require more wind to properly "fly," and will typically fare better in a windy area.
